What’s better than the free Anything But Basic Leggings pattern? Being able to whip it up at any length you want, AND using some clearance fabric, which means a new pair of bottoms for less than $2.
About the Fabric
The fabric is some kind of structured two-way stretch knit. It has a nice sheen to it and a nice smooth texture. Whatever it is, it makes a wonderful pair of leggings.
About the ABB Pattern
The ABB Leggings are so simple to sew. Well, as long as you’re paying attention. It took me about 3 times longer than it should have to make these yesterday because I was watching some good ol’ Star Trek TNG and half my mind was on that. So I accidentally sewed the two back pieces together, and then the two front pieces together, and didn’t realize it until I went to sew the rise seams and nothing was lining up. So I had to unpick four seams AND their finished edges. (Figures this was one of the times I actually finished the edges.)
This being my second pair of ABBs, I’m pretty sure I need to tweak my pattern and add some room around my thighs. I’m having the same creeps-down-over-time problem with these that I have with my full-length pair, meaning I’m constantly having to yank them back up.
A cool bonus to this pattern is the included “typical adjustments” which describe common fit issues, why they happen, and how to fix them.
