My colored pencil roll is still going strong and I love it to pieces. I often find myself with my pencils and coloring book, coloring away during commercial breaks on TV, but my sharpener and/or my clip-on light are sitting somewhere across the room.
Well, that sounds like an opportunity to sew something.
So I repurposed my box tutorial and threw together this little tote featuring a pocket for the book, lining, bias tape edge, and a button-over handle for carrying. I wasn’t totally focused as I was doing it though, so my pocket overlaps along the bottom, and the outside bottom seam is inside out. Prototypes are often a mess, though, but it’s functional, and quite nice to have it all kept together now.
I got to put my new Janome-specific button foot to the test and it works a charm. Also used my bias binding foot again, which worked nearly flawlessly. The one hang-up was near the end where the tape overlaps. Got a little stuck because it got bulkier methinks. But I’m starting to really love bias tape.
