Headbands.
I keep trying to buy them, but no one seems to make them the way I like. They’re too tight or too narrow or not the material I want. And so for my first dive into working with knit fabric, I went with making a simple headband. Found a scrap of knit fabric with an acceptable print for $0.32, bought me some ball-point sewing needles for my machine, and off I went.
Yep, my machine ate it in the beginning as I tried to backtack. May have to put my tear away stabilizer to work with these in the future. After my machine had its breakfast though, I was able to sew the rest of it with no problems.
The biggest challenge with these I think is finding the fabric I want. I wish I could feel the different knits before just buying what I find online. I want to compare ribbed knit with hacci rib knit and sweater knit and jersey… It’s so hard to know what you’re getting online without being able to feel it.
Regardless, the wonderful world of headbands awaits.
