Pastel Watercolor Be Dreamy Dress

Behold, Be Dreamy Dress #5 in this pastel watercolor smudge double brushed poly.

I was so excited about this fabric. The navy smudge caught my eye first, and then I found this version and had to get it, too. Both these smudge fabrics were more than I typically pay per yard for fabric, but I found them so beautiful, I couldn’t resist.

Unfortunately, a good portion of the fabric was marred when I received it.

I reached out to the fabric shop to let them know, thinking I might still have enough to cut around the damaged portion and maybe they would refund me for a yard or so. They refunded me for the full cut of fabric and let me keep it.

So between this dress and the navy smudge, fabric that should have cost me $69 cost me nothing. What an unexpected turn!

After make 4 of these dresses already, I didn’t really deviate from what worked and what I loved about the others. It’s such a simple sew, too: just the front and back bodice, the bodice lining, a skirt, and the sleeves. It comes together very quickly.

I get so many compliments when I wear this silhouette, and while that always feels great, what I love most about these dresses is how effortless they are. Put on one thing, add a nice pair of shoes, jewelry, and you’re good to go! I also love all that fabric floating around behind me; it’s cape-like without being a cape—not that I object at all to capes.

So this is the last one of these for now; five is plenty, and I have a nice range of prints and colors to choose from.
