If you’ve been looking for a unique summer dress, look no further than the Starstruck pattern by George + Ginger. My first version here is a mash-up of the Starstruck top and the Lounge Gown skirt, and it’s the perfect blend of comfy, cool, and unique.
The Fabric
I used a double brushed poly for most of this dress. This black stamped floral on steel blue came in a 3-yard one-of-a-kind cut from Made of Love Fabrics. The white is a mystery knit that came in a clearance box from Boho Fabrics. It has a looped texture on one side, so I kind of want to call it french terry, but I’m not sure.
The Pattern
Very well-written. With all those straps, it could easily become a nightmare, but I had no trouble following each step. The only frustrating part for me was precisely topstitching the straps over previous stitching. I did pretty good with most of them, though.
Notes for Next Time
I might size down the top. This is a size 4, and while I don’t have any major fit issues, I’d feel a little more snug/contained if it was a tad smaller. That might also eliminate a tiny bit of gapping along the horizontal strap and the V in the middle of the bodice.
